Mission

The Oneonta Club Foundation is a California non-profit 501c3 organization providing scholarships and awards to students and teachers in South Pasadena to promote excellence. Their commitment and passion is demonstrated in pursuit of their interests coupled with a conviction that what they are doing matters.

History

Since its founding in 1923, the Oneonta Club creed includes the following statement:

“I further believe that only with confidence founded upon acquaintance, friendship and understanding may we render free and unselfish service to each other and our country”

As part of the Club’s commitment to service, it began awarding scholarships to worthy students in 1955, when it awarded four scholarships. In fact, one of the 1955 scholarship winners is an active Club member, past President and current Board Member of the Foundation.

Through the vision of past Club President Philip V. Swan, the Oneonta Club Foundation was created in 1975. The dedication and foresight of Philip V. Swan along with that of his good friend Ross MacMichael (who served as the Foundation’s President for 22 years) created a lasting legacy in South Pasadena.

Awarded annually since 1955, the Oneonta Club Foundation has provided scholarships to over 130 deserving students.

Since 2009, the Foundation has awarded a total of $330,000 to 33 students and we would like to increase our giving.
